MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WPMI) — “Put down your phone!” is the message behind a piece of legislation being proposed in Montgomery!
Alabama law currently bans texting while driving, but does not ban holding a phone while behind the wheel.
The proposed measure would ticket drivers across the state who hold a phone in their hand, whether or not they’re making a call while driving.
The fine would be up to $150.
Fifteen states and the District of Columbia currently have a similar ban in place.
