Google confirms Pixel 4 with dual rear cameras

Google Pixel 4

If you’re a Pixel fan, you know that Google usually launches new Pixel phones in early October every year. Within a week or so after its global launch, the new Pixel also comes to India. This year too chances are that Google will launch new Pixel, likely to be called the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL, in October and around the same time — say Diwali — the new Google phones will come to India. But ahead of the launch, Google has shared two images of the Pixel 4 confirming a few details including a new 2-module rear camera and a tweaked design.

Google via the Made by Google Twitter handle posted a render of the Pixel 4 on Wednesday. This happened after several leaks related to the Pixel 4 surfaced on the web. Google, however, instead of ignoring the leaks and staying silent went ahead and just confirmed the phone as well as the leaks.

The render shared by Google revealed that the Pixel 4 will include two cameras on the back panel and both of them will sit inside a square-shaped camera module, similar how iPhone 11 series is expected to be. At the bottom of the rear panel there’s the Google brand logo similar to all Pixel phones so far.

The render just reveals the Pixel 4 design from the rear panel. On the back cover, we can see the square camera module that includes dual cameras paired with a flash. The back panel doesn’t include a fingerprint — this may mean that the Pixel 4 will come with either in-display fingerprint sensor or the fingerprint sensor will sit beneath the home button on the front. Chances of in-display fingerprint sensor are high considering all other Android smartphone makers have adopted the technology. Or there is a possibility that like the iPhone XS and the iPhone X, the Pixel 4 will use some sort of face recognition to unlock the phone.

While not too many details are available about the Pixel 4, there are some that we already know because they are sort of certain. Google has always used the latest flagship processor for its Pixels and the same is expected to happen with the Pixel 4 series too. This means the Google Pixel 4 will be powered by Snapdragon 855 that currently powers all the flagship smartphones like OnePlus 7 Pro, among others.

The Google Pixel 4 series will be the first smartphone to launch with Android Q that the company has recently announced at its I/O event. It is also expected that the Pixel 4 will come with two front cameras, will have metal and glass design and will have a water and dust proof body.
