The Joint Admission Board has made a decision regarding international students appearing and aspiring for JEE exams. Students from the following countries will be allowed directly to give JEE Advanced exams.
- Afghanistan
- Bangladesh
- Sri Lanka
- UAE
- Ethiopia
This means, that they need to appear for JEE Mains.
The idea has been approved in-principle. Each IITwill also ratify it and the IIT council will approve it next week
This week, the rankings of colleges were released and Indian institutes have loosed a lot of rankings and the primary reason is lack of international students. This move is a counter to this issue.
Foreign nationals will be given seats under supernumerary category
Hence, the seats for Indian students will not be affected greatly.
The cost of admission will be recovered from the foreign student and the government will not bear any expense on account of foreign students. They will be given the same facilities as Indian students
