While Dakota Johnson’s press junket for last year’s “Fifty Shades of Grey” earned the 26-year-old actress quite a few best-dressed nods, it has paled in comparison to her current publicity blitz for the upcoming comedy “How to Be Single.” Just in the last month, Johnson has worn memorable pieces by Gucci, Armani Privé and J. Mendel, and just added another standout to her sartorial résumé.

For the New York premiere of the film on Wednesday, Johnson and her stylist Kate Young turned to Saint Laurent for a nude, long-sleeved gown daintily embellished with silver stars. The flowing silhouette appears to be a favorite of Johnson’s as the aforementioned Gucci confection took on a very similar shape. But with its simple, bohemian vibe, this dress struck us as being quite different from what we’re used to seeing her in. With longer-than-usual hair in a loose, half-up style and chunky silver jewelry, the look adopted a palpable Stevie Nicks aesthetic — which might explain why this writer enjoyed it so.

In a red carpet season still so dominated by naked dresses and leggy slits, it’s refreshing to see a star as buzzy as Johnson choose something so relaxed.
