In order to compete with Apple’s latest smartphone, the iPhone SE, LG in future might launch a smartphone with similar branding – the LG G5 SE – tips a Korean trademarking website.
However, according to an indexed list of Korean trademarks on Kipris website, the ‘G5 SE’ trademark was applied for by LG back in December last year, and once again in February. 9to5Google reports that LG Corp. and/ or LG Electronics Inc. has applied for two other trademarks, that of ‘LG G5 SE’, a week after the launch of the iPhone SE.
As mentioned above, one of the G5 SE trademarks was applied for back in in December last year. Since we first started hearing about the iPhone ‘SE’ moniker in January this year, it might not be the case that LG copied Apple. However, if the trademark listings are indications, we would soon be hearing more about LG G5 SE smartphone.
LG is also said to be working on a ‘Lite’ version of its G5 flagship smartphone. The handset recently passed Tenaa, the Chinese telecommunications certification authority, revealing partial specifications and its design, which is similar to that of its elder sibling.
As per the listing, the LG G5 Lite features the same 5.3-inch QHD (1440×2560 pixels) resolution display, along with the 32GB inbuilt storage. It also houses the same 16-megapixel + 8-megapixel rear camera setup. However, the processor has been downgraded from Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 to Snapdragon 652 along with 3GB of RAM instead of 4GB of RAM. It is worth mentioning that the processor still supports 4K video recording. As for the GPU, the LG G5 Lite will include the Adreno 510 GPU to handle graphics.
