LG G5 SE Is an LG G5 Variant for Select Markets Powered by Snapdragon 652 SoC

Ever since LG applied for ‘G5 SE’ trademarks in South Korea, the company was rumoured to be working on a toned-down version of its LG G5 flagship. Now, the South Korean company putting an end to speculations has confirmed that the LG G5 SE is a new G5 flagship variant featuring octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 SoC.

LG has confirmed to Android Authority that the “LG G5 SE is indeed the LG G5” that’s meant for select markets including Latin America, China, and other regions. LG appears to be following the lead of HTC which on Tuesday unveiled the HTC 10 and HTC 10 Lifestyle smartphones catering to different markets. The HTC 10 smartphone in the US packs the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC while the HTC 10 Lifestyle comes with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 SoC.

We will have to still wait for LG’s official G5 SE announcement to see the other differences between theLG G5 and its SE variant.

As for the specifications of the flagship, the LG G5 features a 5.3-inch QHD display (1440×2560 pixels) featuring always-on display technology. The always-on display is a highlight of the new flagship from LG and allows users to check time, notifications and battery status among other pieces of information. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage that can be expanded using a microSD card. It sports a 16-megapixel and an 8-megapixel rear camera, with the former featuring a 78-degree lens and the other with a 135-degree wide-angle lens. On the front side, there’s an 8-megapixel camera. Other features of the LG G5 include a 2800mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0.

LG had announced that it would launch the G5 flagship smartphone in India in the next quarter.
