OnePlus 3T Will Sport Snapdragon 821 SoC, Qualcomm Reveals

Qualcomm may just have confirmed that the OnePlus 3T variant will sport a Snapdragon 821 processor. OnePlus is said to be working on a refined variant of the OnePlus 3, and it was largely rumoured to sport Qualcomm’s latest processor.

Now, Qualcomm itself has tweeted that another OnePlus smartphone is on the way, and it sports the latest Snapdragon 821 processor. While the chipmaker did not specifically mention that the processor will power the rumoured OnePlus 3T, it is the only device that is reportedly ‘on the way’. The OnePlus 4 is still months away from launch, and will be revealed sometime mid-next year powered by what’s anticipated to be the Snapdragon 830 processor.

Nevertheless, Qualcomm has confirmed that a new OnePlus smartphone is in the offing. The OnePlus 3T was expected to launch in December around Christmas, but recent reports indicate at a November 14 launch.

The OnePlus 3T is expected to be priced at $479 (roughly Rs. 32,100) – $80 more than the OnePlus 3, which is priced at Rs. 27,999 in India. It is expected to run on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat-based OxygenOS version, and sport an Optic Amoled display. The design of the OnePlus 3T is also expected to be similar to the flagship, with support for Dash Charge embedded as well.

Past leaks suggest a larger 3300mAh battery, 6GB of RAM, as well as 64GB and 128GB built-in storage variants. The company is also tipped to include a 16-megapixel Sony IMX398 sensor for the rear camera, instead of the 16-megapixel Sony IMX298 sensor seen on the OnePlus 3.
