Samsung Galaxy S7 Tipped to Receive Android Nougat Update Starting January 17

Samsung’s 2016 flagship smartphone Galaxy S7 may soon start receiving Android Nougat update, if a new leaked screenshot is to be believed. The Nougat update is expected to arrive on the European Samsung Galaxy S7 models from next week.

According to a leaked screenshot shared by The Android Soul, the Samsung Galaxy S7 with model number SM-G935F will start receiving the update from January 17. The company has already confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will be updated directly to Android 7.1.1 Nougat in January, and will not receive Android 7.0. We can expect the final Nougat update to also arrive to the Galaxy S7 Edge considering that Samsung few months back rolled out its Galaxy Beta Program for both the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge users to test Android 7.0 Nougat on their devices. Unfortunately, the Beta program was only available for users residing in the US, UK, and Samsung’s homeland South Korea, alongside China.
To recall, Google started rolling out the final Android 7.1.1 Nougat update for Nexus and Pixel devices last month. The new Android 7.1.1 update also included the company’s monthly security update for December. The Android 7.1.1 Nougat update brought new emojis that reflect gender equality. Apart from emojis, Google also added support for GIF images directly from keyboard on supported apps. Some of the apps that support GIF images include Google Allo, Google Messenger, and Hangouts. The Android 7.1.1 Nougat update also brought app shortcuts directly from home screen. Users can launch actions on any apps by simply long pressing the app icon.
