Samsung has decided to end South Korean exclusivity for six of its mobile accessories, bringing a range of wireless speakers, headphones and wireless charging modules to markets worldwide sometime this month. The company has also unveiled a Blue Coral colour variant for the Galaxy S7 Edge, to be made available in select markets across the globe.
It’s touting a “Wireless Speaker Bottle” as its headlining product, which at first glance looks to be a marriage of the UE Boom’s design and Google Home’s colour profile. In addition to providing 360-degree sound, it can also charge your phone wirelessly. It’s got a couple of bottling actions built into it as well – “pouring” with the Wireless Speaker Bottle will change brightness and giving it a shake will alter colour. If you want more granular control over colour options, a companion app will let you do so.
Samsung is offering another wireless speaker as well, called by another generic name in Wireless Speaker Scoop. There are controls on the speaker itself, and the inbuilt microphone supports noise reduction and echo cancellation so you can (reliably) pick up calls. Built for on-the-go purposes, it’s splash-proof and comes fitted with a strap too.The Wireless Speaker Scoop looks like a fatter version of the UE Roll, which is completely waterproof but doesn’t support calls as it doesn’t have a mic.
Then there’s Wireless Charger Tray, which Samsung says can charge two devices – or three, if you use an in-built wired solution. The tray, coming in at just under 18mm of thickness, can also provide power to your Wireless Speaker Bottle.
Adding to the collection is Battery Pack Kettle Design – available in 5100mAh and 10200mAh options – which includes a wrist strap and kickstand cables to help you on those long-commute movie nights. You can also choose to pair it with an LED light.
Rounding up the lot are the In-ear Headphones Rectangle Design that combine fabric and metal construction along with a flat cable to prevent tangling.
There is no pricing information on any of the products yet – but honestly Samsung, just give these products a proper name.
In other Samsung product news, the Galaxy S7 Edge is getting a new colour variant – Blue Coral – benefiting from the demise of infamous Galaxy Note 7 and adding to the existing five options – Black Onyx, Gold Platinum, White Pearl, Silver Titanium, and Pink Gold. We’re only four months away from MWC 2017, but the more, the merrier eh.
