Last four quarters have been great for Xiaomi India in terms of sales. For all these four quarters Xiaomi has been the No 1 smartphone brand in India. The reason behind the top position or success is surely the company’s great value for money smartphones. Compared to previous years, the year 2019 too is turning out to be extremely busy for Xiaomi. Especially, for brand Redmi. The company kicked off the year with the launch of the Redmi Note 7 and the Redmi Note 7 Pro. It was later followed by other Redmi phones like the Redmi Go, the Redmi Y3, and the Redmi 7. Soon the company will be launching the Redmi K20 series in the country.
We at India Today Tech have reviewed all the aforementioned Xiaomi phones and believe most of them offer great value for the price they come for. All these phones fall under different price segments and are among the top picks for the price range. Right now Xiaomi is offering phones between the price range of Rs 5,000 to Rs 20,000 in the country.
There are several Xiaomi phones available in India right and that often confuses consumers on which Xiaomi phone is a better buy for the price. So let’s try to solve this confusion and list out the best Xiaomi phones to buy in India right now.

Best Xiaomi phone around Rs 5,000
Redmi Go: “Perfect for the first time buyers” — this is what I said about the Redmi Go in the India Today Tech review. The Redmi Go, as Xiaomi also asserts, is a smartphone for consumers looking to switch to an Android phone from feature phones. The Redmi Go isn’t the best looking, or the fastest, or clicks the best pictures or selfies, but it gets the work done. At Rs 4,499 the Redmi Go is a steal deal. In India right now, it’s extremely difficult to find a phone under Rs 5,000 but with the Redmi Go Xiaomi makes the impossible, possible.
The Redmi Go is currently Xiaomi’s cheapest smartphone in India yet. Some of the biggest highlights of the Redmi Go are — runs on Google’s Android Go software, Google Assistant support, support for over 20 regional languages, Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset, 3000mAh battery, dual nano SIM, dedicated microSD card slot, among other things.
This is what I said in Redmi Go review:
“Yes, you should if you’re looking to buy a smartphone for the first every time. The Redmi Go is extremely easy to use unlike more costly phones. Overall the Redmi Go looks cute, offers great build and form factor and also handles the daily performance pretty well for the price it comes for. The specs and the performance the Redmi Go offers for the price (Rs 4,499) are incredible.”
Best Xiaomi phone around Rs 10,000
Redmi Note 7S: This phone is the Redmi Note 7 replacement in the country. The Redmi Note 7S is the last Note 7 phone that hit the Indian market and its most likely because consumers wanted a 48MP camera phone for around Rs 10,000. In India, the Redmi Note 7S sells for starting price of Rs 10,999. The Redmi Note 7S is “A polished Redmi Note 7 and worth its extra price”– this is what I said in the India Today Tech review of the Redmi Note 7S.
The Redmi Note 7S offers the same specifications as the Redmi Note 7 plus the improved camera setup. The Redmi Note 7S is currently the cheapest 48MP camera phone in the country. The phone comes with almost the same camera setup as the big brother Redmi Note 7 Pro. The only difference between the Redmi Note 7S and the Redmi Note 7 Pro rear cameras is the sensor. The Redmi Note 7S uses the Samsung GM1 camera sensor while the Redmi Note 7 Pro uses Sony IMX586.
For the price of Rs 10,999 the Redmi Note 7S offers great value. The smartphone clicks great pictures in daylight as well as in low-light (with the help of night mode), offers glass body and premium looks, big 4000mAh battery, and powerful performance.
This is what I said in the Redmi Note 7S review:
“The Note 7S is a good phone. And it is totally worth its price of Rs 10,999. Here’s the deal: if you don’t mind spending extra Rs 3,000, then go for the Redmi Note 7 Pro as it offers much better camera and core hardware. The Note 7S should be your choice if you are strictly limited to Rs 10,999 and it goes without saying that at this price tag the Redmi Note 7S is a sweet deal.”
Best Xiaomi phone around Rs 15,000
Redmi Note 7 Pro: I believe the Redmi Note 7 Pro is not only one of the best Xiaomi phones available right now but also the best buy for consumers looking to purchase an all-rounder phone under Rs 15,000. The Redmi Note 7 Pro has a lot of competition in the market but the phone fights them pretty well and comes out as a winner in almost all aspects. The Redmi Note 7 Pro offers a premium look thanks to the glass body on both front and back panel. It clicks stunning pictures in almost all scenarios. The Night mode is one of the best bits about the Redmi Note 7 Pro camera. The phone also offers powerful performance (uses Snapdragon 675) and long lasting battery life, thanks to the big 4000mAh battery. Overall, the Redmi Note 7 Pro should be the one to consider if looking for an under RS 15,000 phone.
This is what I said in the review of the Redmi Note 7 Pro:
“If you are looking to buy an all-rounder smartphone under Rs 20,000, the Redmi Note 7 Pro is the best option in India right now. The smartphone not only offers fairly good performance but is also extremely good looking. The display could have been better. And same I think of its battery life. But then the camera is great. The design is fantastic. And the price is yum! Overall, the Redmi Note 7 Pro is one of the best Notes from Xiaomi so far. The smartphone looks stunning, captures good detailed pictures in all lighting conditions and runs the latest MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie software.”
Best Xiaomi phone around Rs 20,000
Poco F1: Despite being almost an old phone, why is Poco F1 in this? It is mostly because the Poco F1 is still the cheapest Snapdragon 845 phone available in the market. Xiaomi India has now dropped the price of the Poco phone by thousands of rupees which makes the Poco F1 a much better deal than ever before. The Poco F1 is currently available for a price tag of Rs 17,999. As we mentioned in the full review of the phone, the Poco F1 offers solid design, gorgeous display, powerful performance, and outstanding battery life. For Rs 17,999 the Poco F1 is a fantastic deal.
This is what we mentioned in the Poco F1 review:
“Shut up and take my money is the ideal way to describe the Poco F1. It checks all the boxes that you generally expect from a phone that costs 2X or 3X more. It is built rock solid, it has a gorgeous display, it is blazing fast, it’s available in a range of options, it has capable cameras, it has dual speakers and it has fantastic battery life.”
Honorary mention
Xiaomi Mi A2: The Mi A2 is a pretty old smartphone but is still one of the best Xiaomi phones one can buy in India right now. As we mentioned in the full review of the phone the Xiaomi Mi A2 offers solid build quality, powerful performance, stock Android experience and also clicks great cameras. The India price of the Xiaomi Mi A2 has dropped drastically in the recent past. The Mi A2 now sells for starting price of Rs 10,999.

Wait for Redmi K20 Pro. Xiaomi is gearing up to launch the Redmi K20 Pro in India in the new few weeks. The company has announced that the Redmi K20 Pro will come to India in three weeks. This suggests that we can expect the India launch of the Redmi K20 Pro in or around the third week of July. The Redmi K20 Pro will come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor in India. Alongside the Redmi K20 Pro, Xiaomi will also launch the Redmi K20 in the country.
The India price of the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro is yet to be revealed but going by the China price of the phones, the Redmi K20 could be priced around Rs 18,000 and Rs 20,000 in the country. The Redmi K20 Pro, on the other hand, is expected to be priced around Rs 25,000 in India.
