Samsung Galaxy S7 Battery Life Tipped to Be Very Impressive

Samsung may not have announced dates for its ‘Galaxy Unpacked 2016’ event for MWC where the company is expected to unveil the Samsung Galaxy S7 flagship, though there is no stopping the leaks related to the handset and its variants. In the latest such leak, a tipster has claimed that Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S7 flagship is capable of 17 hours of video playback at full brightness – tipping rather capable battery life. The tipster Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin has claimed the details about Samsung’s unannounced Galaxy S7 flagship on Twitter.

Tipster Eldar Murtazin does not have the perfect record of leaks, especially with Samsung devices and services, though with the wording of the tweet, he certainly appears to have access to a unit. We however have to wait till Samsung’s official confirmation about the detail.

To put the battery life figure in perspective, in our own video playback loop test, the Galaxy S6 provided 13 hours and 8 minutes of playback, while the Gionee Marathon M5 provided 25 hours and 23 minutes. They have 2550mAh and 6020mAh batteries respectively. Unfortunately, Murtazin did not provide the resolution or format of the video file used to test playback, skewing comparisons.

A recent leak about Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartphone suggested there will be only two variants of the Samsung Galaxy S7 flagship to launch. The report contradicted previous claims of Samsung planning to launch multiple variants of its next Galaxy S-series flagship – the Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Plus, Galaxy S7 Edge, and Galaxy S7 Edge+.

A leaked company presentation slide also made its way to the Internet tipping details including a 5.1-inch QHD display, 12-megapixel rear camera; 4GB of RAM, and Snapdragon 820 processor, which were in-line with an earlier report. To be noted, is that the company is expected to launch the smartphones with the Exynos 8890 SoC in some regions.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 has been so far rumoured to feature a 5.1-inch QHD resolution display and come with 4GB RAM. The handset is likely to pack 64GB inbuilt storage, 12-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The smartphone will be running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box.
